Project Three: Input Final

For project Three I was responsible for making the input which would control the switch That Holly Designed. Holly and I worked together to create something that would only work if you used our two components. Our overall idea was to have something that released tiny bits of metal which would touch the wiring of LED lights and switch them on.

Input:

For  the input I created a tube made out of clear plastic which I vacuumed formed over a glass bottle. I then filled this with tiny metal shavings. I used a cork to control when I did and didn't want the shavings  to come out.

Holly's component was a plastic vacuum formed cup which had LED lights on the outside with the wiring in the inside. The LED lights where placed in layers so the fuller the cup got with metal shavings the more layers of LED lights that turned on.

Project Two: Final

For this project I used the two materials rubber and fluid. I moulded liquid latex and then marbled the inside and outside to show the emotions  confidence and self continuousness.

Image One:

Image one shows the outside of the mould and represents confidence through the bright colours that have been used.

Image Two:

This image shows the inside of the mould and I have used pale colours to show the emotion self continuousness. The cracks and flaking of the nail polish has been done to show that the rubber is trying to move past being unconfident.

Image Three:

The final image is of the inside and I have tried to capture where the bright colours have started to come across into where the pale colours are. I have done this to show that the material is trying to gain confidence.

Lab Three: Relationship Between Two Materials

The first on the left is of moss growing in the gutter with the water flowing past it. I chose this to show the relationship between the two and how the water helps the moss to grow. The second on the right is of my teddy bear. I have tried to show the relationship between the fur and cotton. Without the cotton stitching the bear would not hold together.

Lab Two: Failure

I exploded two marshmallows in the microwave. This caused the marshmallows to expand out real far and then pop. Once it cooled down and I twisted it all the cracks appeared. While in the microwave the marshmallows also over cooked resulting in a change of colour.

Lab One: Paper Composition Drawing

Here using my paper composition, I have looked at the different angles of it and used the methods of layering and rotating to create this final drawing.

Project One: Final

The material I chose to explore and use for my final hand-in was plastic. I used glad wrap as my form of plastic. I found plastic a very rewarding material to use. I like the way you could create textures with it and deform as well as create interesting compositions with it.

Surface One:

For this surface I have tried to show a contrast between the exterior and interior of the glad wrap. It os not what you would expect but when rolling it into a ball and then cutting in half the glad wrap is quite spongey in the interior and the food colouring makes it look quite frosty.

Surface Two:

For this surface I explored the property that allows the plastic to stretch. I really like this photo because it looks like ripples which is a really illusion of what it actually is.

Surface Three:

Here I have used the technique of moulding the plastic using my hands. I created multiple 'bumps' and arranged them in a grid layout. When taking the photo I wanted to create a illusion of a landscape. I think that this looks like a mountain landscape.

Project Two: Final Ad

Final Ad:

Here is a video of my final ad that I created. Overall I am pretty stoked with it. I decided to keep the speed of the photos quite quick to make it a smooth stop motion. I didn't want it to be too quick though so that you couldn't read the words. I think that I have managed to get the timing and speed right for this. The ad is the length of a normal ad too. It is quite hard to keep up with what is written on the screen but I don't think this matters because when you watch ads anyway it takes you a few times to pick up what it is saying an advertising because it often happens all so quickly. The main thing that I wanted to come out of this ad was that when watched once by the viewers they would clearly remember something ie: the music or the dancing and then therefore may want to look it up later in their own time to find out more. I have included the credits as part of the ad. I have chosen to do this as I didn't like the idea of having an ad with credits as this isn't normal. The credits do go very quickly considering but I only have them their as they are a requirement otherwise I would not have included them in my ad if I didn't need too. Below I have the images that I used with the credits on them to show who has helped and contributed to this project.
