Individual Work

Precedent image

I have chosen to use the artist Johannes Itten’s in this last work because when I look at his designs I automatically feel engaged with it. The use of bright colours grabs my attention. I find it interesting how he has used geometric shapes and overlapped segments of them using colour. The way he has used colour appeals to me. I like how the colours are contrasting and create various shades as well as a sort of overlay in parts of the image. The composition and layout of the work fascinates me because when you look at it, it looks quite structured and thought out but at the same time random.

Final image

In this design I have used the same composition and layout as my precedent image and have chosen to combine it with hatching. I previously did this design and where their is white block colour I had bright colours similar to my artist model but to me it didn't look as successful.

Touch and Draw Final

For my final piece for the Touch and Draw exercise I chose to use headphones as my object. I looked at the idea of what headphones are used for. Headphones are used to listen to music. With this in mind I have represented the sounds I hear through headphones by listening to a range of songs and using indian ink to create marks representing the sounds and beats I could hear.

Touch and Draw

The three objects I chose to begin with for concepts were headphones, scissors and a tooth brush.
I looked at the function, design and motion you create when using each one of them. For my final I chose to go with the headphones.

Section Final

Section

For the drawing exercise section I have chosen to do a pocket watch. I drew the front on view of the pocket watch and focused on the detail of it. I then 'cut' the pocket watch directly across in the middle to reveal the inside of the watch and then directly across in the middle again to reveal the mechanics of the watch behind.

Identity Final

Identity

The two images above I have used as a model for my grid and composition in my own work. I took parts from both to create something new.

This is a few of the concepts I had before I decided on my final for  the exercise Identity.
