Project Three: Final Render And Photo(s)

Final Render:

Final Photos:

Project Three: Photography Top Picks

Below are the top six photos that I will pick one from to use as my final photo. In each of then there is something that I like. I am finding it hard to pick one as I don't no what direction I should follow. Time to get ruthless and just pick.

One:

I like this photo because it shows off the detail and textured created on my model. I also think the background and environment that it is n complements the models texture.

Two:

I find this photo pretty fascinating because it shows a specific piece of my model in detail but makes it look like it is of something else. I also really like the colours.

Three:

This photo to me is just really beautiful the way it combines colour and composition together. I think the way I have cropped the photo really enhances and brings attention to the main focus on the texture on the model.

Four:

Much like the previous images I like the amount of detail that is shown in this photo as well as the environment that the model has been placed in. the water in the background is just enough to show a relationship between my model and my narrative of under the sea.

Five:

This photo makes me think my model is in a fish tank or something like that. I have placed my model on sand and then over exposed it by using the flash. I just find this photo really intriguing and think that it goes quite nicely with my final render as the model looks like it is moving in a certain direction like it does as well in my final render.

Six:

This photos really makes my model look like a fish. When designing my model I was not aiming to create something that looked so much like a sea creature but instead a composition that explored different textures and shapes from under the sea. However I do like this photo as it brings my model to life. I took this photo in the gutter to get that stoney, algae environment that kind of looks like a rock pool.

Project Three: Photo Shoot

Below are some contact sheets of the photos I have taken of my model. I have tried to continue with my narrative of under the sea/ sea creatures and shells. With this in mind I have taken photos of my model in various environments such as outside in the gutter with water flowing behind it, next to some stones and plants aswel as on sand. I found my model really interesting to photograph as it is so different looking at every angle. I also took photos at different times of the day and when the weather was sunny and cloudy, I am so pleased I did this as it has created some really cool natural lighting.

Project Three: Rendering Developement

I have decided that I really like the wire material and have decided to stick with it. I have tried using different colours and shades and the using a background to create an under the sea environment.  I have found that when I used the background the models became to flat looking. I am just going to focus on now using lighting with a black background to show that the models are deep in the sea. I think this will look very effective as the lighting on the models are the key feature. Overall I am feeling good. Making great progress.

Project Three: Practice Renders

Below are some some practice renders that I have done, experimenting with different materials, lighting and compositions. I have tried to experiment with the idea of placing my models in an under the water  environment/ beachy setting. This is to show a relationship with my original precedents.

One:

For this render I have just tried to explore a possible composition. I like the idea of sclaling my models so that it shows perspective and looks like they are lined up behind each other.

Two:

In the above render I have explored another possible composition. I like this composition as it suggest movement and with the right background/ lighting I think it has the potential to tell an interesting story. I prefer this composition over the one above.

Three:

I found this real cool material called wire. I think it looks quite effective and just opens up new possibilities to my work. i like the idea of incorporating this and telling a story about being captured. For example set creature captured in a net or something different all together revealing the skeletal structure of a sea creature.

Four:

For this render I have focused on placing my model back into an under the sea enviroment as I think my models really look like they belong in such an enviroment. I have made my own background in photoshop and then merge my models with the background. Somethin I will need to work on is making my model look less sketch like and more 3d. I think  it could look very effective if I had some of my models cropped so that it looked like they were swimming under the sea.

Five:

This render was abit of a fail. I applied a material tha was an image of scales. However it said the render was finished yet turned out like it hadn't. I think I will try and re do this render again and see if I have anymore luck with it.

Six:

In this image I have used the wire material again. When I tried to render it I found that it didn't render like what the model appeared to look like on the screen. I really like the wire material and with the lighting that I applied i think it looks quite effective especially with the use of the blue light. I am just not to sure how to make the render come out nice and show what I can see on the program. Working progress I guess.

Seven:

This is a render of my final model using the wire and lighting. I like it how it looks like it glowing which is something unique abut sea creatures under the water. I am just not sure if it will look as good with three models looking like this

Project Three: Rendering Experimentation

Below are some renders of me experimenting with different materials, colours, lighting and backgrounds. I have tried to take colours that are relative to the sea and under the water. I quite like the coral colours that are beginning to come through in the shadows and also materials that have been applied to the model. I am not to sure which direction I want to go yet but I am pretty sure that I want to incorporate the colour blue/ green/ aqua into my render as these colours too me are associated to the sea and I would like to creative a narrative realting back to my precedents which were shells and sea creatures.

Project Three: My Model Finally Printed

After numerous attempts of getting my model to print Arthur finally managed to get it to work. So happy! Below are some images of me beginning to clean my model. I actually really enjoyed cleaning it. It was not as difficult as I thought it would be. The toothbrush and needle did the job perfectly and I now have it sitting in the solution just to try get rid of the ugly yellow colour. I am not to sure yet if I want to dye my model or not. Is it really worth the risk!

Project Three: Potential Textures For Rendering

Going along with the whole sea creature and under the water theme I decided to do some research into different skins that sea creatures have. I have found a few images which are shown below of different scales from fish and other sea creatures. I would quite like to experiment with this and see what one of these would look like applied to my models. It could possibly look way too much and take focus off the detail that my model has but if anything these images give me some colours to work with that I could aslo experiment with on my models.

Project Three: Potential Backgrounds For Rendering

Below are some images that I have found which I think have potential and could offer me with some new ideas in developing my final reder of my three models. They are all of images of the beach or under the water. I have chosen this theme because it links back to my precedents and I think that my final model looks like a new variety of some sort of under the water creature. I like the idea of placing my final models on the sand with some water in the background making it seem like they have been 'washed into shore'. The other idea that I like is having them under water. These might not turn out to look as good as what I am imagining and might end up taking focus off my models but I do plan to do some practice renders using these backgrounds to see.

Project Three: 3 Final Models Chosen

Final Three Chosen Models:

Here is an image showing my final three models. The one in the middle is what I have chosen to get 3D printed. After having some trouble with my file hopefully it will now print. I think each of these models really shares key elements with my precedents like the shape, texture and patterns that have been made. Now to practice rendering my final three and experimenting with materials, lighting and backgrounds.
