Project Two: Practice Exercise

For the first lesson we were given an activity that we did in pairs. Each of us had to either draw a set of instructions, create a map or write a set of instruction that lead you from one place to another. Once we had done this we swapped with another pair and followed the instructions they came up with. This was quite a fun activity and also helped me understand more what exactly this second project was about. My partner and I had to write a set of instructions. This was good fun and we found that you had to be quite specific in your directions without telling them the answer. having another group try following our instructions was interesting because sometimes things make sense to you but not people who havent written or thought of it themselves. Overall the other groups said that our instructions were easy to follow. I found that the picture instructions were the easiest as you knew exactly where to go from just looking at the image although I dont know if it would be as easy in a larger scale for example navigating around Wellington city instead of  just the Design School. In conclusion this activity got me thinking about how I might approach this next project. I think that having pictures and words even written or spoken would be a good combination to use when creating a navigation system.
